The exhibition entitled Sleepers Redux is based upon a Gustav Courbet painting entitled “The Sleepers”, with Solis recreating the masterpiece as an allegory between art practice and art history. Student Scholarships Competition, held in New York City. Balaban took home “First Place in Animation” for his film “Shimai” which was completed while he was a senior at CSULB. For the UCLA talk, Mr. Friedman will present Hickey’s new books Wasted Words: The Essential Dave Hickey Online Compilation and Dustbunnies: Dave Hickey’s Online Aphorisms, which Dr. Friedman both compiled and edited. Blige album No More Drama) will feature weavings that incorporate techniques drawn from European tapestries, West African weavings and Southern quilts. CSULB Painting Professor Fran Siegel has a solo exhibition entitled Infrastructure at the Lesley Heller Workplace in New York City. The show runs from April 1. CSULB Animation Professor Aubry Mintz along with Ellen Besen interviewed the directors Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson on their Oscar nominated animation movie Anomalisa. The interview, entitled “Anomalisa and the Art of Subtle Exaggeration” covers how these directors have taken a fresh look at stop motion animation.
